Adytum provides a true application backgrounding management for modern jailbroken devices. It features four backgrounding modes which you can assign either from 3D Touch/Haptic Touch context menu or from within tweak settings page as app selections:
- Prevent Termination mode: Prevents iOS from ever closing your protected apps even under memory pressure. (Use this feature with caution, enabling many apps randomly may make your device run out of memory - severe system lag - firing memory warnings in the toast banner frequently.)
- Prevent Suspension mode: Enabled apps behave as if they are running in the foreground (apps are never suspended). Perfect for file uploads/downloads, listening to music, or whatever purpose you wish.
- Fast Freeze mode: Instantly freezing your apps the moment they leave the foreground and return to them whenever you want to the point you left without reloading. You have a slider of a 10 second period inside tweak settings to control FF delay.
- Combined PT+FF mode: Freezes enabled apps instantly & put them in memory as prevented terminated apps.
Other Features:
- Toast Notification Banner: Changing any state for any app from 3D touch context menu will fire a nice toast banner containing the activated state and app name.
- Global System Bypass: If you encounter issues (strange behavior) for any app, this feature is here to exclude the targeted app from the 4 protection modes.
- Profile Backup: As an action inside tweak settings to export and import the entire configurations for all of your protected apps with all those 4 protection modes and restore them any time later (for those who restore rootfs frequently).
- Purging: Safely purge unmanaged backgrounded apps from within tweak settings to apply new modes without a Respring.
- Action Logging: If enabled, will record all backgrounding events for the 4 protection modes & global bypasses.
- Memory Pressure Guard: Warnings will be shown in the toast banner, either scaling allocations or degrading protections to retain memory and avoid system lags.
Known Issues (unsolvable issues):
- Facebook: v561+ may launch to a black screen when applying “Prevent Termination” for the first time. Resetting app data or reinstalling the app will solve this issue forever.
- WhatsApp: Targeting WhatsApp with “Prevent Termination” or the “combined mode” will make the app flash into a black screen only in case returning to the app from a Prevented Termination state and other protected apps are in the App Switcher. Targeting WhatsApp with other modes is safe and works fine.
- Multi-scene apps: Multi-scene apps like Safari may require a userspace reboot to correctly achieve Prevent Termination.
Tested Devices: iPhone 7 (15.8), iPhone X (16.6), iPhone 13 Pro (17.0), iPhone 13 Pro Max (16.3.1) & iPad Air 5 (17.0)
